Work from our Bellevue office covering Yakima, Benton, and Franklin County family law matters, with your own legal assistant and full intake and marketing teams behind you.
Imagine spending your time on case strategy, client advice, negotiation, and court. Meanwhile your legal assistant manages your calendar, prepares filings, and keeps clients informed. Our marketing team attracts prospective clients, and our intake team conducts new client interviews and helps clients retain the firm. We do not expect you to bring clients to the firm, because we have that covered. You also do not chase collections, since our system collects fees before work begins.
The role
- Bellevue office. Primary coverage is Yakima, Benton, and Franklin counties, with King, Pierce, and Thurston matters as needed.
- Those courts generally allow remote participation in regular proceedings, so most work happens from your desk. In-person travel is not normally required. Trials may require it, and trial travel is reimbursed from the trial fee, which we collect before trial.
- You get your own remote legal assistant, and we add support as your workload grows.
- We survey attorneys on workload every week and assign cases accordingly. Attorneys typically carry about 30 to 40 open matters.
- We have written procedures that support good legal work and leave your strategy and judgment to you. You also get a weekly attorney mastermind and training in our systems.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary of $140,000 to $230,000, depending on experience
- Annual expectation of 1,500 hours billed and collected (up to 100 hours of pro bono referred through qualified legal aid organizations can count)
- Bonus compensation for collected revenue above the annual expectation, measured by calendar year
- Additional compensation if you choose to bring clients to the firm through your own network
- Time off is not limited or tracked. You control your schedule as long as you meet your annual billing and collection expectation.
- Paid holidays on the days the courts close, under Washington and federal law, and paid sick leave as Washington law requires
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance, health savings account, and 401(k) with employer match
- Professional liability insurance, WSBA and Family Law Section dues, and unlimited NBI continuing legal education
- Partnership is available after five years of practice and one year with the firm, by partner vote.
Who we are looking for
Five or more years of experience, preferably in family law. We also consider experienced litigators from other practice areas. You need active WSBA membership in good standing, or active pursuit of Washington admission. Spanish language ability is preferred. Interest in probate litigation or estate planning is welcome.
Fit
You will like this if you want clear expectations, professional freedom, and capable colleagues. It will not fit if you dislike production expectations, established procedures, or teamwork, or if you want constant supervision.
